Training and Operating Procedures


A thorough and rigorous employee training program is a critical success factor in the security business.  At McCoy’s all employees receive a high level of initial training, and annual refresher training.  The California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services has approved our 40 hour training program and our annual 8 hour refresher course.  We provide additional training as required to meet our clients’ specific needs.  We’re always updating our training procedures, empowering our security officers to handle with confidence routine security issues as well as the exceptions, such as emergencies, disasters and terrorism.

Our core training program covers handling properties, dealing with illegal trespassers, physical security, criminal law, criminal liability, civil law, civil liability, ethics, crime prevention, deportment, patrols, fixed posts, CPR, equipment usage, assisting injuries and contingency planning.

All employees shall:

  • Observe McCoy’s standards of job performance and rules of conduct
  • Obey safety rules and immediately report any unsafe condition
  • Correctly deliver confidential and proprietary information.

Some specific areas of training include:

  • Harassment
  • Potentially violent individuals
  • Emergency assistance
  • Requests for assistance
  • Reporting unusual events and suspicious objects
  • Earthquake
  • Power outage
  • Fire
  • Air contamination
  • Building collapse
  • Weapons
  • Bomb threat
  • Terrorism/weapons of mass destruction (WMD)
